What no one tells you about the first few months with a baby

Ce que personne ne vous dit sur les premiers mois avec bébé

The first few months with a baby are often described as a suspended moment. A mix of magic, firsts, shared glances, and small everyday miracles. And it's true... But what is less often told is everything that lies between these precious moments. Those small details, sometimes unsettling, sometimes overwhelming, that actually make up the first weeks with a newborn.

Because the first few months with a baby are as imperfect as they are wonderful.

At first, time seems to stop. Days no longer have clear boundaries. Nights blend into mornings, wake-ups follow one after another, and it can feel like living in a slightly blurry bubble. Reference points change, slowly but profoundly. You learn to observe, to listen, to guess. A small sound, a different breath, a movement in the bassinet... and suddenly your whole world revolves around this tiny being.

What no one really tells you is how you can be overwhelmed by contradictory emotions. Immense tenderness, of course. But sometimes also fatigue, doubt, and even a little dismay. And all of this is perfectly normal. Welcoming a baby also means getting to know a new version of yourself.

There are moments of infinite sweetness. Like when your baby falls asleep against you, their cheek still warm from sleep. Or when they grasp your finger for the first time with their tiny hand. These moments seem minuscule, but they remain etched forever.

And then there are also those little everyday scenes that you didn't necessarily imagine. The laundry that piles up faster than expected. Clothes that suddenly become too small, sometimes in just a few weeks. Outfits that you carefully choose in the morning, but that need to be changed three times a day.

The first few months are a period when everything evolves at a surprising speed. Baby grows, awakens, discovers the world. Their movements become more assured, their gaze more curious. One day, you realize that this tiny newborn is already starting to stretch in their clothes.

It is also at this time that you understand the importance of simple, well-designed pieces. Soft clothes, in which baby can move freely, sleep peacefully, and explore their first gestures. Clothes that you love to wear day after day, that withstand repeated washings and that accompany these precious moments without ever complicating them.

Because in this whirlwind of the first few weeks, it's often the simplest things that matter most.

Little by little, you find your rhythm. Gestures become more natural. You recognize cries, you guess needs, you learn to trust your instinct. And even if some days seem long, you suddenly realize that the weeks have flown by.

One morning, your baby looks at you differently. Their gaze latches onto yours and, for the first time, they offer something that resembles a smile. At that precise moment, you understand that this entire journey, however intense it may be, was worth every second.

The first few months with a baby are a succession of discoveries. Some are obvious, others more discreet. But all contribute to this unique, fragile, and precious period.

And one day, without really realizing it, you find yourself looking at these tiny clothes that have become too small, with a touch of nostalgia. Because they tell, in their own way, the first chapters of a story that has only just begun.
